I Have put these posts off for to long too. The Province of Alberta runs on Oil and natural resources. When you drive North into Edmonton the first thing you see is Gateway park which has a replica of Leduc #1. It was the rig that fist struck Black Gold in the early 1910's. Although Edmonton has the most diverse economy in Alberta, we still primarily are centered around oil.

It still amazes me that the first people who struck oil lived to tell about it. Alberta has numerous Sour Gas fields. Which is Natural Gas mixed in with a Sulfur compound. A slight whiff of it is enough to give you brain damage. The first people to strike oil were lucky on a few accounts.
